Are you missing the classic Windows Photo Viewer on your Windows 11 or 10 computer? If yes, then here is a simple solution to help you bring back the good old Windows Photo Viewer. In this article, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process to bring back the Windows Photo Viewer and also make it your default image viewer.

1. Download the Registry File
The first step in restoring Windows Photo Viewer is to download a registry file with the necessary codes. You can download this file here.

2. Changing the File Extension
After downloading the registry file, you may find that the file has a “.txt” extension instead of “.reg.” You might need to view the file extensions. To do that, go to “This PC,” click on “View,” and tick “File Name extensions.” Now, you’ll be able to see the “.txt” extension; simply rename it to “.reg” and double-click on it to run.

If you prefer to hide file extensions after this process, simply untick the “File Name extensions” option in “View.”
